Life Care Planning

A Systematic Methodology for Quantifying the Disability-Related Needs of an Individual

Life Care Planning is a systematic methodology for identifying and quantifying the multidimensional disability-related needs of an individual.

Our Certified Life Care Planners (CLCP's) create a Life Care Plan, a document that summarizes those needs and the associated costs.  This includes:

  • future projected medical evaluations,
  • surgical intervention,
  • therapeutic modalities,
  • diagnostic testing,
  • wheelchair needs,
  • aids for independent function,
  • orthotics and prosthetics,
  • home furnishing and accessories,
  • medications,
  • transportation,
  • architectural renovations / home modifications,
  • home health care, and
  • educational or vocational issues and/or wage loss.

The Life Care Plan can be used to provide a tool for case managers to follow.  It can also be utilized as a guide for insurance carriers to make effective assessments of the impact of disability and the needs associated with that disability over time. This allows the insurance carrier the best methods to effectively accomplish financial reserve setting.

The Life Care Plan can also be an important tool for the development of structured settlements and special needs trusts.
